Archaeology
In 1995 a team from the University of South Alabama excavated shovel tests in the 4-acre park surrounding the Krebs House and identified structural features and several artifact concentrations. Area 1 is the shell midden left by the Pascagoula Indians that was mined by the plantation owners to make shell tabby for construction. Areas 2 and 3 may be domestic dwellings or a summer kitchen. Areas 4 and 5 may represent outbuildings.
